Golf courses, multi-use trails, sports, swimming options and wildlife viewing. Sit back, relax and let the kids run free or simply reconnect with family and friends while discovering and exploring our natural resources.

Athletic Fields/Tennis

Beaches

The Ocean County Parks and Recreation has one park which offer swimming facilities.

Swimming is only permitted when staff lifegurds are on duty.
A. Paul King County Park in Stafford Township (Manahawkin). This picturesque location has both a freshwater lake as well as a beach.
The best part of all is that there is never a charge to use County facilities! All locations also have playgrounds, restrooms and picnic facilities.

Smoking is prohibited in all Ocean County Parks including beach areas.

Ocean County has many Parks that offer Boating: Boat Tours, Cartop Boat Launch, Boat Ramp-Small Trailer

Disc Golf Course

The Ocean County Disc Golf Course was opened in 2013 as a cooperative project between Ocean County Disc Golf and the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. The course utilizes the open fields and forests of beautiful Ocean County Park. Beginning in August 2014, the course has been expanded to 18-holes. Please Check back shortly for the updated map.

Dog Parks

Off-Leash Dog Park.

An Off-Leash Dog Park is a contained area where dog owners can allow their pets to run free and exercise off-leash. The increase in Ocean County's population has reduced the number of places where dog owners can let their dogs run free. As a result, many owners use park facilities as a place to exercise their dogs. Conflicts often arise with other park users when the mandatory leash law is ignored. Off-leash Dog Parks provide a safe place for dogs while alleviating conflicts in other parks.

Robert J. Miller County Air Park in Berkeley Township

DIRECTIONS Garden State Parkway southbound to exit 77; left onto Double Trouble Road; right at traffic light onto Pinewald Keswick Road (Route 530); park entrance is located approximately 3 miles down on the left.

HOURS 8:00 a.m. until a half hour before the main park closing.

Ocean County Park in Lakewood

DIRECTIONS Ocean County Park, Route 88, Lakewood From Garden State Parkway southbound, exit 91 (Route 549/Lanes Mill Road) south to Route 88, then west on Route 88 about 2 miles to park entrance on right. Northbound, exit 90 (Route 549/ Chambers Bridge Rd.) to jug handle for U-turn; north about 1/2 mile to Route 88, then west on Route 88 about 2 miles to park entrance on right.

Freedom Fields County Park in Little Egg Harbor Township

Golf

Ocean County Parks & Recreation offers two golf courses

Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis located on Country Club Boulevard in Little Egg Harbor, is an exceptional par-72 championship course designed by George Fazio. It is meticulously maintained and has many challenging holes, such as the scenic but tricky par-three sixth hole, where the golfer must negotiate a pond in the middle of the fairway in order to reach the green. A full-service restaurant is on the premises and open to the public.

Ocean County Golf Course at Forge Pond located in the Northeastern region of Ocean County in Brick Township, is a perfectly manicured par-60 executive course tucked into a 300-acre conservation area. These fairways offer a challenge to even the most experienced golfer, yet allow the novice to perfect his game. Here too, rates are very reasonable, especially for resident senior citizens.

Picnic Areas

Beginning March 1 of each year, reservations for large groups are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

All of our parks have at least a few picnic tables for casual visitors. For groups with more than 25 people, you may reserve the picnic area or the pavilions at select parks for a fee. See below for the list of parks where reservations are accepted:

Beginning March 1 of each year, reservations for large groups are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All reservations must be made AT LEAST three weeks before the requested date for picnics held between April 1 and November 1.

A fee is charged based upon the size of the group, and proof of insurance is required for groups of 300 or more persons. Reservation Forms and payment may be submitted by mail or in person to the Parks Administration Office in Toms River; or in person at Jakes Branch County Park in Beachwood and Wells Mills County Park in Waretown.

Beer in cans or kegs, wine in wine boxes are allowed by permit only
No alcoholic beverages are permitted outside the picnic area, including sports fields, trails, and Nature Centers
